Biosafety Appeals Board to Create Public Awareness at Kitale ASK Show

Biosafety Appeals Board (BSAB) participated in the Kitale Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Show, scheduled from Tuesday to Saturday, 11th October 2025. The Board’s participation aims to enhance public awareness of its mandate in promoting transparency, accountability, and public confidence in the regulation of biotechnology in Kenya.

The  Board is an independent body established under the Biosafety Act, 2009, Cap 320, to handle appeals arising from decisions made by the National Biosafety Authority (NBA). It provides an avenue for individuals or institutions dissatisfied with the Authority’s decisions to seek fair and impartial review.

During the show, the Board’s team will engage with farmers, students, researchers, and the general public to explain its role in ensuring that Kenya’s biosafety processes are governed by justice, fairness, and adherence to the law. Visitors to the BSAB stand will have an opportunity to learn more about the biosafety regulatory framework, the appeal process, and how citizens can participate in decision-making on biotechnology matters.
